ACNE TREATMENT JACKSONVILLE
Acne can develop at any skin type and at any age and the staff of Park Avenue Dermatology treats patients of all ages and skin type. Treatment is aimed at the cause. Some of the options for acne patients include:
Topical Medications
These medications are aimed at killing the possible bacterial causes of acne and also promote skin turnover thereby enhancing the appearance of the skin.
Examples of these are: Benzoyl Peroxide, Sulfur, Resorcinol, Salicylic Acid or Lactic Acid or a combination. Some of these may be over the counter products.
Oral Antibiotics
Antibiotics attack the bacteria Propionibacterium acnes. Some examples are Tetracycline, Erythromycin, Clindamycin. Some are used topically as well.
Isotrenitoin (Accutane)
is a very effective “by prescription only” medication for severe acne. It does have potential side effects so Park Avenue Dermatology will enroll you in an FDA approved monitoring program if you are prescribed Accutane.
Acne Surgery:
This is a procedure used for removing acne lesions. This involves opening up comedones and skin blemishes by using a small pointed blade and suctioning the lesions with a pen-sized device.

At Park Avenue Dermatology, we are proud to offer the latest in laser and light technology which targets the sebaceous glands, the bacteria or both which greatly decreases the inflammation thought to cause the acne.
