Basal Cell Carcinoma

Basal Cell Carcinoma – About 80% of the skin cancers in humans develop in the lowest layers of the epidermis (basal cells). In fact, over one million patients each year are diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma making it the most common type of skin cancer in the United States. Typically, BCC develops slowly with several forms to include:

  • Shiny Translucent Nodule
  • Pearly or Waxy Bump
  • Brown Scar Like Lesions
  • Skin Sore That Never Heals

Since the majority of basal cell carcinomas occur on face, ears, scalp and upper torso, exposure or over-exposure to sunlight is believed to be a primary cause. Early diagnosis and treatment can be important to prevent further damage to surrounding tissue.
