Shawn J. Schmieder, DO, FAAD is a Board-Certified Dermatologist, Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Laser Medicine, and a Clinical Instructor for the Orange Park Medical Center/Mercer University Dermatology Residency Program. Dr. Schmieder is committed to advancing the Surgical Care of Skin Cancer through education and quality improvement. Dr. Schmieder created a quality improvement process for melanoma patients during residency. He is currently co-editor of a renowned dermatology teaching podcast, The Grenz Zone. Although his main interest is Surgical Dermatology, Dr. Schmieder is passionate about the prevention of skin cancer through patient education. Dr. Schmieder was born, educated, and trained in his beloved State of Florida. Graduating with Honors from the University of Florida, he lettered in football and was a member of the 2008 National Championship Team. He earned his doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, Florida. After a Transitional internship at Largo Medical Center, Dr. Schmieder completed three years of specialty training in dermatology at Orange Park Medical Center/Mercer University. He currently lives in the greater Jacksonville area with his family, and he is honored to provide dermatological care to the community he knows and loves.
